Cazoo signs its first Bundesliga deal with Freiburg

Cazoo will have substantial advertising rights at the club's home games, including on television boards and media backdrops.

The online automobile store, Cazoo has inked its first sponsorship deal in Bundesliga with SC Freiburg. In this agreement, the company has been named as the front-of-shirt sponsor of the German football team. Following the expiration of the current front-of-shirt contract with the dairy products producer, Schwarzwaldmilch, the multi-year partnership between Cazoo and the Bundesliga team will commence at the start of the 2022-23 season. This is Cazoo’s first contract in Germany after the company’s introduction in the nation in December of last year.

Cazoo’s goal is to make buying or selling a car as easy as ordering any other product online, with customers being able to buy, sell, finance, or subscribe to a car totally online and have it delivered or picked up in as little as 72 hours. The company’s objective is to change the way people purchase and sell cars in the UK and Europe. Cazoo was formed in 2018 by the serial entrepreneur, Alex Chesterman OBE and is publicly traded. It is backed by some of the world’s greatest technology investors.

Furthermore, Cazoo will have substantial advertising rights at the club’s home games, including on television boards and media backdrops. On the club’s platforms, it will also have an online presence. Cazoo has also been appointed as the co-sponsor and sleeve sponsor of the club’s women’s team, in addition to front-of-shirt rights for the men’s first and second teams. The brand will also be a sponsor of the club’s junior training facility, which means it will be visible at all junior team matches.

It has already established a strong foothold in the United Kingdom, with shirt deals with Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Everton. The company is also part of a larger push into the European football market, with the brand acquiring front-of-shirt rights to Real Sociedad and Valencia in Spain, as well as Marseille in France. Recently, the car dealership firm also signed a deal with the Ligue 1 club, Lille Olympique Sporting Club (LOSC). Cazoo is the main sponsor of the England and Wales Cricket Board‘s (ECB) new competition, The Hundred as well which shows the brand’s solidity outside the world of football too.

SC Freiburg is currently standing at the fifth place in the Bundesliga table and will take on Mönchengladbach on April 23, 2022, Saturday at 7 PM IST.
