ICC onboards Yuvraj Singh as brand ambassador for Men’s T20 World Cup 2024

Yuvraj Singh joins fellow cricket legend Chris Gayle and track and field superstar Usain Bolt as brand ambassadors for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024.

The cricket icon, Yuvraj Singh has been named the official brand ambassador of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Singh joins fellow cricket legend Chris Gayle and track and field superstar Usain Bolt as brand ambassadors for the event. His role will see him actively involved in promotional activities for the tournament, with a particular focus on the United States, a key market for the ICC. This includes promoting the highly anticipated India-Pakistan match scheduled to take place in New York City, a contest expected to generate immense interest among cricket fans.

This announcement comes just 36 days before the global showpiece kicks off, with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2007 champion, set to play a key role in generating excitement, particularly in the USA.

Yuvraj Singh, ICC Men’s World Cup 2011 champion, said, “Some of my fondest cricketing memories have come from playing at the T20 World Cup, including hitting six sixes in an over, so it’s very exciting to be part of this edition, which is set to be the biggest one yet. The West Indies is a great place to play cricket with the fans coming to watch creating a vibe that is completely unique to that part of the world, while cricket is also expanding in the USA and I’m excited to be part of that growth through the T20 World Cup. India’s clash against Pakistan in New York is going to be one of the biggest sporting fixtures in the world this year, so it’s a privilege to be a part of and to witness the best players in the world playing in a new stadium.”

Claire Furlong, ICC General Manager – Marketing & Communications, said, “It’s an honour to have Yuvraj as an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Ambassador. His name is synonymous with the T20 World Cup, owning one of the event’s most iconic moments when he became the first player to hit six sixes in a T20 International. He joins Chris Gayle and Usain Bolt as the first ambassadors to be announced, who will each add to the excitement of what will be the biggest T20 World Cup ever.”

Adding to the buzz, the tournament has secured the services of global sports marketing leader rEvolution as its Agency of Record (AOR).

Additionally, the OTT platform, Disney+ Hotstar, announced the free live streaming of the tournament on its mobile app, ensuring its viewers can catch all the action.

Star India, the leading media conglomerate, also partnered with the data analytics company, CricViz, to provide viewers with a fresh take on cricket analysis throughout the World Cup.

The multi-team tournament will be played from June 1 to 29, with co-hosts USA taking on Canada in the opening fixture at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas. A total of 55 matches will be played by 20 teams across nine venues, with the final on June 29 in Barbados.
