IPL 2024 DC vs MI: Match preview, head-to-head and streaming details

Earlier this month, MI beat DC by 29 runs at the Wankhede Stadium.

The 43rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 pits Delhi Capitals (DC) against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, tomorrow, i.e., April 27 at 3:30 PM IST.

Both teams find themselves in precarious positions on the points table. However, earlier this month, Mumbai beat Delhi by 29 runs at the Wankhede Stadium.

DC currently sit at number six with four wins in nine matches. Their most recent victory came against Gujarat Titans (GT) by a narrow margin of four runs. However, the team’s opening partnership has been a source of concern. Captain Rishabh Pant has been the leading scorer with 342 runs, while Tristan Stubbs has provided firepower lower down the order with his 225 runs at a strike rate of 192. The explosive Jake Fraser-Mcgurk, with 163 runs in four innings at a strike rate close to 212, hasn’t found a consistent spot in the batting order. DC need to address these issues to solidify their batting lineup.

The spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav (12 wickets) and Axar Patel (7 wickets) has been impressive, boasting a combined economy of close to seven runs per over. The pace attack led by Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar with 10 wickets each will look to replicate their performances.

The team recently bolstered its strength with the inclusion of the Afghanistan all-rounder Gulbadin Naib as a replacement for the injured Mitchell Marsh. It remains to be seen how Naib will be integrated into the lineup.

The five-time IPL champions, on the other hand, come into the match after a disappointing nine-wicket loss against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Their batting woes continue, with Rohit Sharma (303 runs) and Tilak Varma (273 runs) being the only consistent performers. Opener Ishan Kishan (192 runs) needs to find form and provide stability at the top along with Rohit. The middle order, comprising Hardik Pandya (151 runs), Tim David (145 runs), and Suryakumar Yadav (140 runs), has been inconsistent, exposing MI’s vulnerabilities. Nehal Wadera showcased his potential with a 49-run knock in his last outing, and the team will hope he builds upon that performance.

Jasprit Bumrah has been the lone bright spark in MI’s bowling attack, picking up 13 wickets at an impressive economy of 6.37. Gerald Coetzee, with 12 wickets, has been a decent support act. However, the other bowlers including Coetzee have struggled to contain the opposition from leaking runs at an economy rate exceeding 10 per over.

Head-to-Head:

Historically, MI have dominated the head-to-head record against DC, winning 19 out of 34 encounters.

However, with both teams vying for a crucial win to climb the points table, this match promises to be a thrilling contest.
