In the 15th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will host Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru today, i.e., Tuesday, April 2, at 7:30 PM IST.
The iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium hasn’t been a fortress for RCB, as the team succumbed to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a one-sided match on Friday. Though Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli are giving the team a good start, the middle-order batters aren’t offering enough support. Apart from Dinesh Karthik, none of the batters are helping the side boost the runs. Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell also need to fire up soon and what better way to do it in front of the home fans. Bowling is another concern for the side as Alzarri Joseph is getting dispatched for runs. Most possibly, one of Lockie Ferguson or Reece Topley will surely get included in the XI tonight.
On the contrary, LSG, which are currently sixth in the points tally courtesy of one win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at home, will aim to continue the away team’s dominance in Bengaluru. With KL Rahul serving as an impact substitute, the team discovered a fresh, self-assured side that also turned out to be aggressive under Nicholas Pooran‘s direction. Quinton de Kock also provided a strong start but will require more support from others. Playing at the Chinnaswamy stadium, the likes of Marcus Stoinis, Devdutt Padikkal, and Krunal Pandya will back themselves to score big, while bowlers such as Mohsin Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, and co. will have a difficult task at their hands. Notably, Mayank Yadav shone in his debut, clocking 156 kmph against PBKS. Much will be expected of him, and he will undoubtedly be put to the test.
Head-to-Head:
RCB and LSG have faced each other in four matches in IPL history. Out of these 4 games, Bangalore has won three, whereas Lucknow has come out victorious on one occasion.
In their last face-off in the previous edition, RCB won the contest by 18 runs.
