In the 47th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, tonight, i.e., April 29 at 7:30 PM IST.
The Knights are still positioned second in the points table with five wins and three losses. However, their home leg of five encounters has been an adequate one, with two wins and two losses. How the complete home run works for them will be determined tonight when they face sixth-place team DC.
KKR have been getting good starts, courtesy of Philip Salt and Sunil Narine, who’s contending strongly for the orange cap. Even in the middle overs, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer have performed well, but Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s form has plummeted. KKR supporters have also missed Andre Russell‘s spectacular knocks recently, while Rinku Singh hasn’t had enough balls to face. Ramandeep Singh has been a good component for the team, as his cameo appearances have helped KKR reach a satisfactory total in the end. Even against RCB, in which KKR just won by one run, Ramandeep’s knock of 24* from nine balls gave momentum to the home team. Narine has also been great with the ball, and Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy have performed well. Others must step up and contribute quickly as the league stage nears its conclusion.
Talking about DC, the team has won its past two home games, but the task now shifts to Eden Gardens, where they will play the squad that punished them with 272 runs. The Rishabh Pant-led side will be wary of this and will need to guide the unit carefully. Rasikh Salam, along with Khaleel Ahmed and Kuldeep Yadav, has performed admirably in Ishant Sharma’s absence. With the bat as well, Jake Fraser-McGurk will aim to continue his purple patch along with Abishek Porel at the start. The big names of Shai Hope, Rishabh Pant, and Tristan Stubbs also look horrific for bowlers if they perform, while Axar Patel also does what he does best with both bat and ball.
Head-to-Head:
KKR holds an edge against DC in their head-to-head battle. The two teams played 33 matches, with Kolkata winning 17 and DC winning 15. One match ended with no result.
In the last match they faced each other, KKR beat DC by 106 runs.
