IPL 2024 LSG vs PBKS: LSG bowlers shows red sign to PBKS batters, get first two points of the season

Following this win, LSG have secured their second two points of the season.

In the 11th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 21 runs at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bat first. Quinton de Kock (54) blazed up the first innings with the bat as he scored a well deserved fifty. The southpaw played at a strike rate of over 140 which included five fours and two sixes. The scorecard was also pushed ahead courtesy of some decent knocks by skipper Rahul (15) and Marcus Stoinis (19). Moreover, Nicholas Pooran (42) hammered a quickfire knock at a strike rate of 200, which boosted the home team’s score to over par score. Along with him, Krunal Pandya (43*) also hit few boundaries at the end to take LSG’s score to 199/8 in 20 overs.

In the chase, captain Shikhar Dhawan (70) and Jonny Bairstow (42) gave the side a powerful start. Both batters added 102 runs for the first wicket partnership in which 61 runs came just in the powerplay. Nonetheless, both batters failed to capitalise and so the middle-order batters. There were few contributions from Prabhsimran Singh (19), and Liam Livingstone (28*) but it was not enough to take PBKS home.

While defending, Mayank Yadav took a four-wicket haul and with him Mohsin Khan also scalped two wickets.

Sam Curran was the star for PBKS with the ball as he plucked three wickets tonight. Two wickets were also grabbed by Arshdeep Singh while one each wicket was picked up by Kagiso Rabada and Rahul Chahar.

Following this win, LSG have secured their second win of the season.

Scorecard:

Lucknow Super Giants: 199/8, Overs 20, Quinton de Kock 54, Sam Curran 3/28

Punjab Kings:  178/5, Overs 20, Shikhar Dhawan 70, Mayank Yadav 3/27
