IPL 2024 LSG vs MI: Match preview, head-to-head and streaming details

LSG boast a dominant record against MI, leading the head-to-head battle 3-1.

The 48th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 pits Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow tonight at 7:30 PM IST.

LSG, currently sitting fifth on the points table with five wins in nine matches, narrowly missed a place in the top four due to net run rate. MI, on the other hand, languishes in ninth place with just three wins and face a must-win situation to revive their IPL campaign.

LSG come into the clash after a disappointing seven-wicket defeat to table-toppers Rajasthan Royals (RR). Captain KL Rahul, who boasts three centuries against MI, will be crucial at the top of the order. Rahul has amassed 378 runs in nine innings, but his opening partner Quinton de Kock needs to find his form after struggling in recent games. The middle order found solace in Deepak Hooda‘s fifty in the previous match, and the team will pin their hopes on his continued good form. Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis, however, will be keen to make amends for their failures in the last encounter.

LSG’s bowling attack needs to tighten its grip after leaking runs and failing to pick up wickets in the previous match. Yash Thakur and Mohsin Khan have been their primary wicket-takers while Ravi Bishnoi poses a particular threat to Rohit Sharma (dismissed twice in 32 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (dismissed three times in 32 balls).

MI enter the match on the back of two consecutive losses, making every contest a must-win scenario to climb out of the bottom of the table. While their batting has shone brightly throughout the season their bowling, however, remains a major concern. Jasprit Bumrah stands tall as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 14 scalps at an impressive economy rate of 6.63. However, the rest of the bowling attack has been leaky, struggling to take wickets in the middle overs and conceding over 10 runs per over on average. The availability of Gerald Coetzee (12 wickets), who missed MI’s previous match due to illness, remains uncertain.

Head-to-Head:

LSG boast a dominant record against the five-time IPL champions, leading the head-to-head battle 3-1.
