Ansu Fati renews contract with Barcelona with €1bn release clause

Ansu Fati has shouldered the responsibility of undertaking the No.10 jersey at Barcelona.

Ansu Fati has decided to renew his contract with Barcelona until June 30 2027. The buy out clause mentioned in the contract extension is a whopping €1bn. This new deal will ensure Barcelona keep hold of their new No.10 at Camp Nou for a long-term project.

The Bissau-born teenager will officially sign the contract today, which will be telecasted live on Barcelona’s media platforms. Fati will follow Pedri in signing a long-term extension at Barcelona. Pedri recently signed an extension with the La Liga giants, which also includes a staggering €1bn release clause.

The 18-year old forward in 47 appearances for Blaugranas has scored 15 goals. He is also the second-youngest player ever to debut for the La Liga giants aged 16 years and 298 days. Ansu, since his debut, has been on a spree of breaking numerous records through his performances. He is the youngest ever player for Barca to feature in a Champions League match, which was against Borussia Dortmund.

Fati, who has been recovering from a long-term injury has already hit the ground running with his goals and performances. He has already netted five goals for Barcelona in all competitions, though he has played very few minutes since he is on road towards full match fitness after a long-term injury. However, he is expected to start the game against Real Madrid in El Clasico this Sunday.

The departure of Lionel Messi this summer to PSG was a big blow for Barcelona. However, they are hopeful that young Fati will deliver on the biggest of stages for Barcelona and entrusted him with the famous No.10 jersey. The 18-year-old since undertaking this responsibility has been in good form so far and has delivered on the expectations of the fans.

Barcelona who themselves are in a sticky situation with financial issues will be breathing a sigh of relief after tieing down two of the young superstars on long-term contracts. This puts all the rumours and speculations of Fati being linked to major European clubs to bed.
