FC Barcelona affirm multi-year global partnership renewal with CUPRA

The agreement extends CUPRA's role as the official automotive and mobility partner of FC Barcelona.

The LALIGA football club, FC Barcelona (FCB) and CUPRA, a Spanish vehicle manufacturer, have announced the renewal and expansion of their global alliance through 2029.

This agreement extends CUPRA’s role as the official automotive and mobility partner of the Spanish giants, ensuring its position as the official car for the club over the next five seasons.

The renewed partnership encompasses a broadened connection between CUPRA and all of the Spanish club’s professional sports teams. Beyond its established ties with the senior men’s and women’s football teams, CUPRA will also serve as the official sponsor for Barca’s basketball, futsal, handball, and roller hockey teams until June 2029.

Underlining its commitment to amplifying its global impact, the CUPRA logo will grace the right sleeve of both men’s and women’s football shirts during the summer tour, as well as international friendlies for the next three seasons.

Moreover, in a bid to bolster CUPRA’s worldwide strategy and reinforce its dedication to nurturing talent, the company will take the helm as the primary partner of one of the international Barcelona academies. This partnership will see the integration of CUPRA’s name and branding within the academy’s facilities, further solidifying the brand’s commitment to supporting emerging talent.

President of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, said, “We are very happy to extend our agreement with CUPRA until 2029 and expand it to all professional sports at FC Barcelona. In recent years, Barça and CUPRA have formed an extraordinary team that is now being strengthened to face the future with a winning spirit. The world of sports and cars share the challenge of always chasing the horizon in search of success. From this conviction, we will work together in the coming years, with a young, leading, global and committed brand as CUPRA.”

CEO of CUPRA, Wayne Griffiths, added, “At CUPRA we share the values of FC Barcelona, the largest club in the world. Both brands face their challenges with passion, we have the ambition to win and a global vocation to inspire the world from Barcelona. Our common commitment to the future and new generations has created a unique connection that we are very pleased to prolong. The renewal of our global partnership means we can continue challenging the status quo on the pitch and on the road, and reinforce our ambition to make CUPRA a truly global Spanish brand.”

CUPRA is a Spanish automotive brand that originated as the performance division of SEAT, a well-known car manufacturer. Established in 2018, CUPRA has swiftly gained recognition for its high-performance vehicles that combine sportiness with luxury and innovation. It operates as a standalone brand under the Volkswagen Group umbrella, positioning itself as a premium choice for drivers seeking exhilarating driving experiences. Recently, the governing body of soccer in Australia, Football Australia, also announced an extended sponsorship agreement with the automotive brand, CUPRA.

The Blaugrana currently holds the third position in the LALIGA standings, boasting 17 wins, six draws, and three losses. Their next challenge awaits as they travel to San Mames to clash with Athletic Club Bilbao on March 4 at 1:30 AM IST.
