Paralympics Australia bags sponsorship deal with McDonald’s Australia

Through the partnership with Paralympics Australia, McDonald's will further deepen its commitment to community inclusion and empowerment.

The National Paralympic Committee in Australia for the Paralympic Games, Paralympics Australia has announced a sponsorship deal with the Australian wing of the multinational fast-food chain, McDonald’s Australia.

Through the partnership with Paralympics Australia and the Australian Paralympic Team, McDonald’s will further deepen its commitment to community inclusion and empowerment.

This historic agreement demonstrates Maccas’ commitment to helping the country’s top para-athletes who hope to represent Australia in the Paralympic Games 2024 in Paris, which gets underway on August 28.

Additionally, it expresses the fast-food restaurant’s intention to support Paralympics Australia in its efforts to improve sport accessibility for the 20 percent of Australians who live with a disability.

Emma Napoli-Hala, McDonald’s Australia’s Chief People Officer, said, “We are very proud of our long-standing focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. McDonald’s has been providing employment opportunities for people with a disability for many years, partnering with Disability Service Providers including JobSupport, atWork and JobCentre, as well as a network of smaller providers in local communities.

“We are proud of our diverse workforce and firmly believe everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve their potential, whether it’s in sport, business or any other area in which they have a passion. We’re excited to partner with Paralympics Australia and support our amazing Para-athletes on their journey to the Paris Paralympics and beyond.”

Paralympics Australia, Chief Executive, Catherine Clark, said, “Joining forces with McDonald’s Australia, an organisation so many of us know and love, is another big step forward in lifting the profile of our incredible Australian Paralympic Team as they prepare for the Paris Games. It’s also a strong show of support for Paralympics Australia’s work expanding access to sport for people with a disability so they can enjoy the many benefits that come from participation. This is a new partnership with immense potential and I’m very excited to see what our two organisations can achieve together.”

In a recent move to further demonstrate its strong commitment to the growth of sports in the country, McDonald’s Australia also extended ties with the Australian Professional Leagues and strengthened its relationship with Melbourne City FC.
