In the 53rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Punjab Kings (PBKS) will take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, tomorrow, i.e., May 5 at 3:30 PM IST.
Having a mediocre season once again, PBKS will undoubtedly attempt to build on their recent victory over CSK at Chepauk and capitalise on it in tomorrow’s round two matchup against the same opponents. Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw will try to maintain their form at their new home, HPCA in Dharamshala, while Prabhsimran Singh and Jitesh Sharma, who have been average this season, will also look to perform well. Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh, and others have also performed admirably with the ball thus far. The team is now seventh on the points table and will need to turn it around shortly in order to qualify for the playoffs.
On the other hand, CSK rank fifth in the points standings with five wins, but the team lost three of its past five games, and another loss could jeopardise its playoff hopes. With Ajinkya Rahane in the lineup, he will almost certainly open with Ruturaj Gaikwad, followed by Daryl Mitchell and Shivam Dube, who are in excellent form. The bowlers have been mostly responsible for the team’s success, but they haven’t been particularly effective recently. In the last game, Ravindra Jadeja, Mustafizur Rahman and Richard Gleeson were economical and will hope to continue their efforts.
