Viacom18 appoints Siddharth Sharma as Executive Vice President – Sports

Before joining Viacom18, Siddharth was with Walt Disney-owned Star Sports, which he joined back in 2013.

The Indian joint venture between TV18 and ViacomCBS, Viacom18 has appointed Siddharth Sharma as its new Executive Vice President – Sports. The announcement was made by Siddharth Sharma himself as he posted about it on his LinkedIn profile.

Before joining Viacom18, Siddharth was with the Walt Disney-owned Star Sports, which he joined back in 2013 as AVP. Later on, in 2015, he was promoted to the position of vice president and head of the sport, Kabaddi, in which he handled the content material and manufacturing of the sport.

Before Star Network, Siddharth Sharma worked at ABP news where he took up the role of the sports editor for nearly 11 years. While his previous working experience also includes Zee News.

“As I end my 8.5 years journey at Star Sports, I reflect with humility and thank my mentors, co-conspirators and team members who have massively contributed in making my work look good”, Sharma wrote in his LinkedIn post.

Viacom18 has some plans about expanding its presence in sports broadcasting as recently it acquired the broadcasting rights of the NBA, following which it will be telecasting all the NBA games to the Indian basketball fans through their TV channels and OTT platforms. Viacom18 has also acquired media rights for LaLiga, Ligue 1, Serie A and Abu Dhabi T10. While, the broadcasting company also appointed Mallika Petkar as Senior Vice President – Strategy, Sports in the previous week.
