Viacom 18 signs broadcasting deal with Serie A in India

The deal has been signed for a span of three years.

Indian joint venture operation between TV18 and Viacom CBS, Viacom 18 announced its broadcasting deal with Serie A in India.

The deal has been signed for a span of three years and will cover the Italian top-flight Serie A in India starting from the 2021/22 season to the 2023/24 season.

With the huge fanbase of Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter Milan in the country, Viacom 18’s deal with the football competition will benefit the company.

Gourav Rakshit, COO of Viacom 18 said, “One of the core propositions of our network is the promise of variety in content. Sports is a whitespace that we have been consciously experimenting with for some time now. The response to our initiatives, thus far, has been very encouraging. Italian Serie A is one of the most exciting & competitive leagues in Europe and we are excited to bring it to our viewers across digital and broadcast platforms.”

The Serie is set to kick off from Saturday with the defending champions Inter Milan taking on Genoa in the first game of the season.
