Lautaro Martinez lands contract extension with Inter Milan until 2026

Martinez has scored 52 goals and 21 assists for the title holders.

Italian giants Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez has signed a new five-year contract until 2026, the Serie A club confirmed in a report.

Martinez was approaching the final few months of his contract but there was always speculation about his stay at the club.

Back in 2018, Inter paid around €22.7million (£19.2m) to sign him from the Argentinian side Racing Club. He has appeared 144 times for the Italian side and in this outing, he has scored 52 goals and 21 assists for the title holders and in this season, he has scored five goals in nine matches.

According to the rumours, the two English Premier League sides, Arsenal and Tottenham were interested in him with the latter club had agreed on Martinez for £60m but the move wasn’t executed.

Martinez on his social handle said, “I am very happy to have extended my contract with Inter. I will always give my best for this shirt as I have always done until now.”

THANKS to my teammates for always helping me on the pitch, THANKS to all the fans for the support they have always shown me, and THANKS to my family for always being by my side. #ForzaInter.”

The Argentina international has devoted his future to Inter, agreeing on a long-term deal that will keep him with the defending champions until 2026.
