Kolkata Thunderbolts team up with Radio Mirchi

Radio Mirchi is India's first privately-owned radio station.

The Rupay Prime Volleyball League (PVL) outfit, Kolkata Thunderbolts have announced a new collaboration with the private FM radio station, Radio Mirchi. Following the association, Radio Mirchi has been labelled as an official entertainment partner of the Kolkata based franchise for the upcoming season.

Radio Mirchi (also known as 98.3 Mirchi) is an Indian national network of private FM radio stations. It is owned by the Entertainment Network India Ltd (ENIL) which is one of the Times Group’s subsidiaries. Mirchi is the Hindi word for red chillies. Radio Mirchi’s tagline is “Mirchi Sunnewaale Always Khush!” (“Mirchi Listeners Are Always Happy!”). It is India’s first privately-owned radio station.

The Mirchi Top 20 and Angrezy Top 20 music charts are well-known on the radio station. Murga, Meethi Mirchi, and Tech Makhni are among the most popular shows. The channel began broadcasting in Indore and Andhra Pradesh in 2001. Currently, the station broadcasts in 63 cities across India, reaching more than half of the country’s radio listeners.

The Kolkata Thunderbolts announced on their official Instagram and Twitter accounts to inform fans about the new partnership. The post said, “Welcome on board as our Official Entertainment Partner @mirchiworld @mirchibanglaThank you for sharing our vision.”

Furthermore, the Kolkata-based agency, PromotEdge has been given the creative and digital mandate for the Ashwal Rai-led team.

The PVL 2022 season begins on February 5 and concludes on February 27. In the first game, the Hyderabad Black Hawks will face the Kochi Blue Spikers. The tournament will feature 24 matches spread out for 23 days.

On February 7, the Kolkata Thunderbolts will kick off their campaign against the Calicut Heroes.
