There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Mumbai City FC (MCFC) in the past 12 months as the club became the part of City Football Group. This group has major stakes in some of the biggest clubs across the globe including New York City FC and Manchester City.
Since they are now part of the City group, some of the sponsorship deals clinched by Mumbai City FC this season were very obvious. The Mumbai based franchise signed a long-term kit sponsorship deal with Puma. The sports apparel brand will also work with Mumbai City FC for the development of the grassroots level of football in the city. MCFC had already signed a long-term sponsorship deal with Etihad Airways at the end of 2019.
Many clubs in the Indian Super League have been working with Dafanews. Mumbai also signed a principal sponsorship deal with the online news portal. As part of this deal, Dafanews is visible on the first team kit of the club. Dafanews is also working with Bengaluru FC and Chennaiyin FC during the 2020/21 season.
For nutrition partner for this season, Mumbai City FC signed a deal with Fast & Up. The Swiss-based nutrition company also features on the first team kit of the team. Considering the global reach of the City Group, Mumbai City FC is likely to sign more deals with foreign brands in the future.
Just before the start of the tournament, MCFC clinched a sleeve sponsor. The club signed a deal with electronics appliance brand Midea. This deal saw Midea becoming the official appliance partner of the club.
The new sponsors for MCFC this season might be few, but they will surely get better exposure across the globe due to deals with big brands. Moreover, the club will be getting much better deals from next season when City Football Group will get more experience in managing an Indian club.
