India tour of West Indies 2023 1st T20I: Match preview, head-to-head and streaming details

India won 17 of the 25 games contested between the two nations, while the West Indies won seven.

In the first T20I match of the five-match series, India will take on the West Indies at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad today i.e. August 3 at 8:00 PM IST.

After winning the Test and ODI series, the Men in Blue will now seek to win the T20I series. Both seasoned players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been rested for the series, while Hardik Pandya will be leading the side with some T20 superstars who have recently excelled in the IPL and other domestic events. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma all excelled in this format and will look to make even more noise as the T20 World Cup approaches in the same region in 2024. Mukesh Kumar, who is in phenomenal shape, is expected to make his debut in this format as well. Along with him, Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik might also see a green light. Meanwhile, Axar Patel will also get included but it’s unlikely to see both Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal together once again in the playing XI.

Known as the superpower of the T20 format, the home side will aim to at least clinch the five-match series after losing out on Test and ODI series. With the likes of Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Jason Holder and Rovman Powell, the side looks extremely dangerous. With the ball, the side is pretty good too as Alzarri Joseph and Obed McCoy leading the charge. West Indies also won 2-1 earlier in the year against the South African side and thus will strike to showcase the same efforts against India, who are in a transition phase when it comes to the T20 format.

Head-to-Head:

India won 17 of the 25 games contested between the two nations, while the West Indies won seven. One game also concluded without a result.
