IPL 2024 DC vs MI: Fraser-McGurk, Rasikh star as DC claim win at home

Following this result, DC have won their fifth match of the season and are now placed fifth on the points table. 

In the 43rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 10 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. 

MI won the toss and asked DC to bat first. Right from ball one, the five-time champions must have regretted their decision as DC opener Jake Fraser-McGurk (84) hammered every bowler across the stadium. The young Aussie played at a booming strike rate of 311 and smashed 11 fours and six sixes. From the other end, Abhishek Porel (36) opened with him and was decent. Both openers put 114 runs together for the first wicket partnership. Furthermore, Shai Hope (41) bolstered the scorecard with his impressive knock, which was paced at 241.18. Towards the end, Tristan Stubbs (48) also played a sublime knock, which helped DC reach 257/4 in 20 overs. Not to forget, Rishabh Pant (29) and Axar Patel (11) also contributed valuable runs. 

In the chase, Tilak Varma (63) was the highest run-getter for the visitors while Hardik Pandya (46) also played a crucial role. The likes of Ishan Kishan (20), and Suryakumar Yadav (26) also provided their share of runs but it wasn’t enough. Tim David (37) also tried his best but MI fell 10 runs short.

While defending, the likes of Mukesh Kumar and Rasikh Salam grabbed three wickets each, while Khaleel Ahmed also took two wickets. 

For MI with the ball, one wicket each was taken by Luke Wood, Jasprit Bumrah, Piyush Chawla, and Mohammad Nabi

Jake Fraser-McGurk was adjudged Player of the Match for his electrifying batting performance. Following this result, DC have won their fifth match of the season and are now placed fifth on the points table.
