IPL 2024 MI vs KKR: Match preview, head-to-head and streaming details

Both franchises have faced each other 32 times, with MI winning 23 and KKR winning only nine.

In the 51st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai tonight at 7:30 PM IST.

Having lost the last three games in a row, the five-time IPL champions are on the edge of crashing out of the ongoing edition. In total, the Paltans have played 10 games, winning just three, which places them ninth in the points tally. However, the unit returns to its iconic home, the Wankhede Stadium, where MI would hope to regain their lost touch and gain some points. Additionally, their hefty lead in head-to-head against KKR would give the Hardik Pandya-led side another mental boost. In terms of batting, Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera have had outstanding performances this season, but, seasoned campaigners Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, and captain Pandya have struggled to deliver regularly. With the ball, Jasprit Bumrah has been a lone warrior.

On the other hand, the Knights haven’t triumphed at the Wankhede since 2012. In between, they celebrated two IPL titles, a few leadership changes, and the return of Gautam Gambhir as a mentor. The Shreyas Iyer-led side needs a minimum of two wins from five games and surely it will back itself to win those. Furthermore, following winning three of the previous five games, it has the chance or rather an assignment, to secure at least four points in the coming games. While the playing conditions in Mumbai will be identical to those in Kolkata, batters such as Phil Salt, Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and others will go all out again. The real test would be of KKR’s bowlers, who have not been very efficient thus far. Winning the toss becomes more important as the visitors find it easier to chase the target.

Head-to-head:

MI hold an enormous advantage in the head-to-head matchup against KKR. Both franchises faced each other 32 times, with Mumbai winning 23 and Kolkata winning only nine.

In the last outing between the two teams, which took place in the previous season, MI won the game by five wickets.
