Binance has announced an exclusive multi-year NFT partnership with the Portuguese football player, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, who is considered one of the greatest football players of all time, plays for Manchester United in the Premier League (PL) and captains the Portugal national team. Ronaldo is the only European player to have won five Ballon d’Or honours and four European Golden Shoes.
Binance will conduct a global promotion through this collaboration to introduce Ronaldo’s supporters to Web3 and provide a compelling entry point into the realm of NFTs.
As part of the multi-year partnership, Ronaldo and Binance will collaborate to produce a series of NFT collections for sale on the cryptocurrency exchange’s website, with the first collection set to be launched later this year.
An NFT is a digital asset that resides on a blockchain, which is a record of transactions stored on networked computers. The blockchain acts as a public ledger, allowing anybody to verify the legitimacy of the NFT and determine who owns it.
Investors’ reluctance to risky assets has resulted in a drop in cryptocurrencies, notably bitcoin, and has also impacted NFTs, which skyrocketed in popularity last year.
To get popularity, cryptocurrency start-ups have relied on sports partnerships. Last year, Crypto.com signed a partnership to rename the Staples Centre in Los Angeles the Crypto.com Arena for $700 million.
