Zlatan Ibrahimovic extends his stay at AC Milan for another year

Last season, Ibrahimovic appeared in 23 games for Milan, having scored eight goals and delivering three assists.

The Swedish striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has formally extended his contract with the Serie A club AC Milan for another season at a significant pay cut. The 40-year-old’s career appears to have no end in sight as the forward will continue to wear the number 11 jersey until June 30, 2023.

Last season, Ibrahimovic was paid approximately seven million euros with incentives, with the majority of the money coming from goal bonuses.

Nevertheless, with his most recent extension, the Swede will obtain no more than one million euros fixed, with a possibility of an increase depending largely on a goals and assists clause.

Last season, Ibrahimovic appeared in 23 games for Milan, having scored eight goals and delivering three assists as the Rossoneri won the Scudetto for the very first time in 10 years.

“AC Milan is pleased to announce the renewal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract until June 30, 2023. The Swedish forward will continue to wear the number 11 shirt,” a club statement read.

Ibrahimovic suffered an ACL injury on May 25 that necessitated surgery. However, the Swedish giant decided to postpone surgery until the end of the season and is now expected to return in early 2023.
