The Indian apex cricket governing entity, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that Viacom18 has acquired media rights to its home international fixtures.
The Reliance-backed entity has won digital as well as TV rights and has agreed to spend INR 67.8 crore per game. For the upcoming five-year cycle (2023-28), the broadcasting entity will be spending INR 5963.4 crore. The newly unveiled association consists of a total of 88 matches.
The affiliation between the BCCI and Viacom18 will kick off with India’s three-match ODI bilateral series against Australia in September and conclude in March 2028.
For the next five years, the home BCCI international fixtures can be enjoyed on JioCinema and Sports18, Viacom18’s OTT and TV channel, respectively.
Viacom18’s purple patch in the sports broadcasting arena continuous as prior to this acquisition, the Mumbai-based entity also secured rights to the Indian Premier League (IPL), Women’s Premier League (WPL), SA20, Cricket South Africa (CSA), Olympic Games Paris 2024, Major League Cricket (MLC), and Zim Cyber City Zim Afro T10 in the past 12 months.
Viacom18’s glowing sports broadcasting portfolio also consists of multiple top-flight football competitions – Serie A, LALIGA, and Ligue 1.
