Viacom18 acquires exclusive media rights to WIPL

Viacom18 made a winning bid of INR 951 crore which means the broadcasting unit will pay a value of INR 7.09 crore per match for the 2023-27 cycle.

The Indian media conglomerate, Viacom18 has acquired exclusive media rights to the Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL) for the inaugural five-year cycle.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah confirmed on Monday through his official Twitter handle that Viacom18 made a winning bid of INR 951 crore which means the broadcasting unit will pay a value of INR 7.09 crore per match for the 2023-27 cycle.

The Reliance-backed broadcasting unit has been on a media rights acquisition spree. In the year 2022, Viacom18 bagged media rights to Cricket South Africa (CSA), SA20, and the men’s Indian Premier League (IPL) for the 2023-27 cycle.
