IPL 2024 GT vs RCB: Will Jack’s century drives RCB to victory in just 16 overs

RCB have registered their third win of the season but are still at the bottom of the points table.

In the 45th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by nine wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

RCB won the toss and opted to field first. Though a tricky decision for an afternoon game, the visitors did a commendable job of keeping GT to 200 runs, which is a new par score for the IPL. Swapnil Singh was quite economical in his quota, while Mohammad Siraj and Glenn Maxwell also took wickets.

In the chase, the opening pair of Virat Kohli (70*) and Faf du Plessis (24) once again provided a quick start, scoring 40 runs together. Nonetheless, it was Will Jacks (100*), who smashed an incredible century at a monstrous strike rate of 243.9. The right-handed batter hammered five fours and 10 massive sixes to win the game for RCB in just 16 overs. Moreover, the duo also scored 166 runs for the second wicket partnership.

For GT with the bat, Sai Sudharsan (84*) was the only batter to stand strong and bat throughout the innings. Along with him, Shahrukh Khan (58) also played an aggressive inning, consisting of three fours and five sixes. Their partnership of 86 runs guided the team to 200, which gave them an upper hand going into the dressing room.

While bowling in the first innings, one wicket each was plucked by Swapnil Singh, Mohammad Siraj, and Glenn Maxwell.

For GT with the ball, Sai Kishor was the only bowler to take a wicket.

Will Jacks was adjudged Player of the Match for his outstanding batting performance. Following this result, RCB have now registered their third win of the season but are still at the bottom of the points table.

Gujarat Titans: 200/3, Overs 20, Sai Sudharsan 84, Swapnil Singh 1/23
