Sky Sports to air Africa Cup of Nations 2023 in UK and Ireland

Sky Sports will be hoping to encourage top-tier English football competition fans in Britain and Ireland to get involved in AFCON.

The British sports subscription TV network, Sky Sports has secured the media rights to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023.

Football fans in the UK and Ireland will be able to watch every match in the month-long competition, which is scheduled to take place in the Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11.

Upon announcing the media rights package, Sky indicated that several Premier League (PL) players would be competing in the competition. The TV network will be hoping to encourage top-tier English football competition fans in Britain and Ireland to get involved in AFCON.

“Fans will also be able to follow their favourite players and the evolving stories from the tournament on Sky Sports’ digital and social channels,” Sky’s statement read.

Sky specifically underlined the importance of well-known stars like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, who would be representing Egypt and Senegal, respectively.

In the tournament, six units will compete in the group stages, while matches are slated to be held in five host venues spread over four cities.

Ahead of the competition’s start on Saturday, AFCON has strengthened its sponsorship positions with the addition of Visa, Puma, and Visit Saudi.
