When India last visited Bangladesh, controversy broke out when captain Harmanpreet hit her stumps and criticised the umpiring, after being ruled LBW. Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana then hit back, criticising the Indian captain’s actions and stating that she could have shown better manners.
India dominated the three-match T20I series 2-1, however, the ODI series finished 1-1, with the last game being tied.
In the next series, Mandhana, who recently won the Women’s Premier League (WPL), would be expected to play a key role in Jemimah Rodrigues‘ absence. Along with all-rounder Shreyanka Patil, all eyes will be on Sajeevan Sajana and Asha Sobhana. After impressing in the WPL, both players have received their first national team call-ups.
From Bangladesh’s standpoint, seasoned veteran Nigar Sultana will be anticipated to contribute heavily for the home team. Habib Islam Pinky, 15, has also received her maiden call-up to the national team for the first time. Other players to keep an eye on include Murshida Khatun, all-rounder Fahima Khatun, and Rumana Ahmed.
FanCode is the home of Bangladesh cricket in India, having recently televised the Bangladesh Premier League, the Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh, the New Zealand tour of Bangladesh, and other notable series starring the Bangla Tigers.
