Puma to supply official match balls in CAF competitions

The arrangement will kick start in November as Puma will be serving as the technical partner of the CAF, which includes the coverage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The German multinational sporting company, Puma has launched a partnership with the governing body of football in Africa, the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Following the agreement, the German brand will be seen providing the official match balls in all the tournaments, organised by the continental governing body. 

The arrangement will kick start in November, and the entity will be serving as the technical partner of the apex body, which includes the coverage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) being held in the Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

By the new contract, Puma will also supply the referees’ uniforms for the competitions and have marketing privileges both inside and outside the host sites. 

Johan Kuhlo, General Manager of Europe, Middle East, and Africa distribution at Puma, said, “The passion for football runs deep in Africa and PUMA has taken a unique and creative approach in its partnerships with its African teams over the years. Our agreement with CAF celebrates this passion for the sport across the continent and we will jointly develop exciting products specifically for African football.”

The Confederation of African Football is the governing organisation for association football, beach football, and futsal in Africa. Following formal discussions between the aforementioned associations at the FIFA Congress held on June 7, 1956, at the Avenida Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal, it was formally established on February 8, 1957, at the Grand Hotel in Khartoum, Sudan, by the national football associations of Egypt, Ethiopia, South Africa, and Sudan.
