Qatar Airways bag sponsorship deal for CONCACAF Gold Cup 2021

As part of the deal, Qatar Airways will also be seen as the presenting partner of next year’s CONCACAF Nations League.

CONCACAF, the football governing body comprising of confederations of North, Central America and Caribbean Football Association has inked a sponsorship deal with Asian airlines giant, Qatar Airways. The deal will see Qatar Airways as one of the major sponsors of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, 2021.

As part of the deal, Qatar Airways will also be seen as the presenting partner of next year’s CONCACAF Nations League. The first edition of which concluded recently crowning the US Men’s National Team as champions as they defeated Mexico in the final.

This mega sponsorship deal expands its reach to all the other CONCACAF competitions as well. These include Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League, the Scotiabank CONCACAF League, the Flow Caribbean Club Championship and all the confederation’s age-group World Cup qualification tournaments.

Sharing his thoughts on the deal, CONCACAF President and FIFA Vice President, Victor Montagliani, said, “We are extremely pleased to welcome Qatar Airways as a confederation-wide partner of CONCACAF. Their extensive experience across global football and sport sponsorship will undoubtedly benefit our confederation. We look forward to working together to elevate this summer’s Gold Cup, the next edition of the CONCACAF Nations League and football across the entire region.”

Qatar Airways has now been long associated with football. They have sponsorship agreements in place with big European clubs like FC Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain and AS Roma. The airlines also serve as sponsors for the biggest club competition on the planet, the UEFA Champions League and a mega sponsor for FIFA as they plan to host the next world cup in Qatar in 2022. South American Federation of CONMEBOL, also has an agreement with Qatar Airways as their official airline partner.

CONCACAF General Secretary, Philippe Moggio, addressed the media on this deal and said, “This is a great partnership for CONCACAF that will see our flagship competitions benefit from the extensive global reach of Qatar Airways. We also know that our Gold Cup and CONCACAF Nations League will provide them with great visibility in North America, Central America and the Caribbean, making this an agreement that will truly benefit both organisations.”

This year’s Gold Cup commences on July 2, 2021, and will go on for a month with the final to be played on August 1, 2021. The CONCACAF’S premier event is expected to attract a worldwide audience and would surely benefit Qatar Airways in its branding and market reach in the US.
