Optus Sport scores exclusive media rights to FA Cup in Australia

The FA Community Shield, traditionally contested between the PL champions and FA Cup winners, is also included in the deal.

The Australian sports streaming giant, Optus Sport has secured an exclusive multi-year deal to broadcast the Emirates FA Cup, further solidifying its position as the premier destination for football fans Down Under.

This acquisition adds the prestigious knockout competition to the sports streaming platform’s impressive portfolio, including the comprehensive Premier League (PL) coverage.

Commenting on the acquisition, Howard Rees, Head of Optus Sport, said, “The Emirates FA Cup is one of the most prestigious knockout cup competitions in world football and we are excited to unite the Emirates FA Cup and The FA Community Shield as part of the world’s best football on Optus Sport.”

The prestigious English knockout competition, boasting the title of the longest-running national knockout football competition in the world, kicks off on the streaming service in November 2024. Fans can experience the magic from the opening first round to the final at the Wembley Stadium in May 2025. Optus Sport promises comprehensive coverage, ensuring viewers never miss a moment.

Launched in 2016, Optus Sport is the go-to streaming service for Australian sports fans. Its offerings cater specifically to football fanatics, boasting live and on-demand broadcasts of major leagues from around the globe, including LALIGA, and UEFA. Accessibility is a strong point, with viewers able to access Optus Sport via their website, mobile apps, and even on various smart TVs and game consoles.

The competition’s recent deal with Optus Sport follows similar agreements with ESPN for American viewers and BBC Sport and TNT Sports for the UK.
