The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) has signed a multi-year partnership with a U.S. global airline leader in safety, innovation, reliability and customer experience, Delta Air Lines.
This new deal, which begins this year, makes Delta the league’s first official airline and travel partner. However, the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed by the league.
Delta will work with the league to support its athletes through women’s empowerment programmes and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
NWSL Chief Revenue Officer Mitch Poll, said, “Delta is a champion for the growth of women’s sport in the U.S. and around the world. We’re excited to welcome their team to the family and work together as we continue establishing the NWSL as the world’s premier women’s soccer league.”
In addition to programming about empowerment and DE&I, the multi-year partnership will include various opportunities for fan engagement events.
Molly Battin, S.V.P., Global Brand Marketing at Delta, commented, “Joining the National Women’s Soccer League as its first-ever airline sponsor is a proud step in Delta’s work to support the teams and communities where we live, work and serve. We are excited about the opportunity to work alongside the league to build meaningful and empowering programs that support the athletes and reach into the communities where they play.”
The NWSL began preseason camp on February 1, ahead of its 10th anniversary season. The 2022 season will begin on Friday, March 18, with the start of group play for the 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup.
