Nissan e.dams renews contract with Shell for three years

The partnership in the future is to achieve their goal of net-zero emissions.

Nissan e.dams has renewed its partnership with Shell in the Formula E electric vehicle racing championship. This extension of the contract will mean that Shell will continue to work with the racing team and will look to develop high-performance E-transmission fluids which will help their drivers and car to win on the track.

Various innovations will be welcomed and the right ideas will be implemented on the track as well. Due to this, all the EV users will be benefitted from better quality, efficiency and a better driving experience.

Both the brands first collaborated back in 2018 and since then they have been partners till now and further after renewing the contract, will be together for three more years.

The partnership in the future is to achieve their goal of net-zero emissions. Shell has targeted 2050 to become a net-zero emissions energy business, a huge step to follow and attain Paris Agreement on climate change. Participating in a business that will charge electric vehicles plays a significant part in Shell’s Powering Progress strategy. Presently, Shell functions more than 80,000 charge points worldwide. It has aimed to upsurge this to around 500,000 by 2025.

István Kapitány, Executive Vice President for Mobility at Shell, said, “EVs are at the forefront of modern mobility, and Formula E is at the forefront of EV technology. This is why we are thrilled to be extending our partnership with Nissan e.dams, one of the sport’s most successful teams. Not only will we be providing them with cutting-edge, high-performance E-fluids and E-greases for use on the track, but the knowledge we gain can then be used to inform the development of our road-going products, helping us to achieve our goal of being the world’s leading full-spectrum mobility company,”

“This partnership is about winning races, and about combining the power and creativity of two market-leading, forward-thinking companies to develop world-class innovations that we can then bring to our customers. This partnership with Nissan e.dams, and the innovation we can expect from it, marks another valuable step towards this goal.” he added.

On the collaboration, Tommaso Volpe, Nissan Global Motorsport Director, said, “As we move forward into Season 8 and beyond, we’re delighted to continue our collaboration with Shell, whose advanced range of E-fluids plays such an important role in keeping our powertrain as efficient as possible. We look forward to more success with Shell as a valued partner in our Formula E racing efforts.”

Season 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will commence in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia on 28 January 2022 and later in season nine, the relationship between Shell and Nissan e.dams will introduce a new Gen3 Formula E car.
