JioCinema records 2.57 crore viewers during GT vs MI Qualifier 2

The concurrent viewership during GT vs MI peaked when Shubman Gill scored a breathtaking century and a fiery cameo played by Hardik Pandya.

The official digital streaming partner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, JioCinema has created a world record in terms of viewership, yet again this season.

This time, the OTT platform received a whooping 2.57 crore viewers during Qualifier 2 between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The figures of concurrent viewership peaked when the GT batter, Shubman Gill scored a breathtaking century, and a fiery cameo played by the skipper, Hardik Pandya.

The previous record of this gigantic concurrent viewership was with Qualifier 1 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and GT, as it got a viewership of 2.5 cr.

This season has been one of the best in terms of the concurrent viewership for the esteemed OTT platform. JioCinema has made several records in this edition such as getting 2.4 crore viewers during the high-octane southern derby between CSK and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 17, and 2.2 crore people watching the encounter between CSK and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 12, when Mahendra Singh Dhoni came in the middle and failed to chase the target.

This was the first occasion when JioCinema got the digital rights of this marquee T20 league, and to enhance the digital viewership and provide surreal excitement of the shortest format, the medium provided commentaries in 12 different Indian languages, 4K streaming, and free-to-play contest “Jeeto Dhan Dhana Dhan” with exciting prizes for every match including a car.
