The five-time IPL champions became the first team to be eliminated from the ongoing IPL season. After losing eight back-to-back games, the most successful team in the competition didn’t find its rhythm throughout the season and succumbed to its woes. There has been a minor turnaround as Mumbai Indians won three fixtures in their last four games and will like to finish the season on a positive note. The youngster, Tilak Verma has been the find of the season for MI and will count on the southpaw to win them games in future. The Mumbai franchise played 12 games, lost nine fixtures and won thrice. With six points, MI have acquired the 10th spot.
On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad have almost lost their opportunity to qualify for the playoffs. The 2016 champions had a major turnaround and acquired a spot in the top four after winning five consecutive games earlier in the season. SRH couldn’t manage to maintain the momentum further as they are currently on a five-match losing streak. The lack of contribution with the bat from Kane Williamson has been the major reason behind the team’s underwhelming batting performance. The Hyderabad-based franchise played 12 games so far, out of which they won five and lost seven games. SRH have occupied the eighth position with 10 points.
In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, MI have a slight advantage. The two teams, collided on 17 occasions, Mumbai won nine games while Hyderabad emerged victorious on eight occasions.
In the last outing between the two teams in the previous season, MI won by 42 runs.
