With less than a week to go for IPL 2021, brands are thrashing out deals before the first game between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Sources have told Sportsmint that MX TakaTak is the latest brand to sign sponsorship deals with multiple IPL teams. It is believed that apart from Chennai Super Kings, the remaining seven teams will be working with MX TakaTak during IPL 2021.
As part of this deal, all seven teams- Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, will be creating exclusive content on MX TakaTak. Every team is expected to have separate channels on MX TakaTak to post content throughout IPL 2021.
MX TakaTak was launched by MX after the Indian government had banned TikTok in the country. TakaTak has very similar features compared to TikTok. Content creators can make small videos with various features on this platform.
As of now, MX TakaTak has more than 100 million downloads on Play Store. Considering the rapid growth of MX TakaTak in such a short space of time, IPL teams could leverage this platform to create valuable content for fans. Since fans will not be able to watch IPL 2021 in stadiums, IPL teams will be looking to come up with different strategies for digital platforms such as MX TakaTak.
Brands are signing deals with multiple teams for IPL 2021
MX TakaTak is not the only brand to associate with numerous teams in IPL 2021. BKT Tires also recently announced sponsorship deals with seven teams. Apart from Sunrisers Hyderabad, all other teams will be working with BKT Tires during IPL 2021. Punjab Kings had BKT Tires on the back of their recently launched kit.
Meanwhile, PhonePe also signed deals with four IPL teams this season. The digital payment platform will be working with Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings during this season. Previously, Myntra also had signed different types of sponsorship deals with CSK and RCB for this season. Working with numerous teams will give these brands much more digital and broadcast exposure during the next two months.
