The former Indian cricket team captain, coach and sublime spinner, Anil Kumble, turned 52 today, i.e. October 17, 2022.
Even after 14 years of retirement, Kumble holds the record of being the highest wicket-taker in international cricket for India with 956 wickets and was often regarded as the biggest match-winner of the team. He is also the third-highest wicket-taker in international cricket. The unorthodox spinner made his international debut in April 1990 against Sri Lanka. The tall Indian spinner didn’t offer much turn like his peers but his consistent line and length and extra bounce made him a lethal weapon for his captain. The cricketer from Bengaluru was known for his exploits in the Asian sub-continent. When people questioned his skills outside of Asia, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain pulled off a series-defining spell for the team in the iconic India tour of Australia in 2003/04.
