The former Indian cricket team captain, coach and sublime spinner, Anil Kumble, turned 52 today, i.e. October 17, 2022.

Even after 14 years of retirement, Kumble holds the record of being the highest wicket-taker in international cricket for India with 956 wickets and was often regarded as the biggest match-winner of the team. He is also the third-highest wicket-taker in international cricket. The unorthodox spinner made his international debut in April 1990 against Sri Lanka. The tall Indian spinner didn’t offer much turn like his peers but his consistent line and length and extra bounce made him a lethal weapon for his captain. The cricketer from Bengaluru was known for his exploits in the Asian sub-continent. When people questioned his skills outside of Asia, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain pulled off a series-defining spell for the team in the iconic India tour of Australia in 2003/04. Then, captain, Sourav Ganguly fought with the selectors to include him in the squad and Kumble didn’t disappoint as he emerged as the highest wicket-taker of the entire four-match series.

In 1999, the cricketer popularly known as Jumbo become the second bowler to pocket ten wickets in a Test inning. He accomplished this feat against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Delhi Test. In the evening of his career, the legendary bowler was announced captain of the Indian side. Investments:
Kumble founded Spektacom in 2018, with the aim to utilise state-of-the-art technologies to bring evolution in sporting experiences.

In 2011, the former coach of Punjab Kings (PBKS) also started a sports agency, TENVIC SPORTS, to positively impact people’s lives through sports.

In one of the recent developments, Kumble joined Onsurity as a strategic advisor and investor. The company aims to enhance awareness of the importance of healthcare and well-being between employees and their families.

Net Worth:

Kumble’s net worth is reportedly just over INR 80 crore. His hefty net worth can be primarily attributed to BCCI salaries, endorsements, IPL contracts and other private businesses.

The 52-year-old has a luxurious designer house in Bengaluru, Karnataka along with multiple real estate properties across the country.

Charity:
Fueling his love for wildlife and photography, Kumble has set up a Jumbo Fund, through which he raises money for the appreciation of the work of forest staff, NGOs and individuals working for wildlife conservation.

Kumble has also made donations to an independent NGO, The Foundation.
