BCCI announces adidas as its new kit sponsor

The BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, announced this esteemed partnership with adidas through his official Twitter account.

The Indian apex cricket governing entity, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced its association with adidas.

In this development, adidas will be responsible for designing and manufacturing jerseys (across all formats), kits and other merchandise for India’s Men’s, Women’s, and U-19 teams. The newly unveiled collaboration will go on till March 2028.

Following the association, the German athletic and footwear company has been named the Indian cricket team’s kit sponsor. The BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, announced this esteemed partnership through his Twitter account, “I’m pleased to announce @BCCI’s partnership with @adidas as a kit sponsor. We are committed to growing the game of cricket and could not be more excited to partner with one of the world’s leading sportswear brands. Welcome aboard, @adidas.”

Speaking about the partnership, adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden, said, “We are proud to partner with BCCI and Team India, the most iconic team in India. Cricket is the most important sport in India, and it is very important for us to be visible and invest in it. We could not have found a better partner than BCCI. I believe India to be the fastest growing sports market for the next decades. We are very committed to supporting our team to become the best sports brand in India.”

Commenting on the association, Neelendra Singh, GM, adidas India, said, “We are beyond excited for this historic moment at adidas, not just in India but also globally. We are proud to see the three stripes on the Indian cricket team. This is our moment to present Cricket to the world with high quality performance products for our athletes. We look forward to creating moments with our consumers through the most celebrated sport in India. adidas truly believes in the potential of cricket in India and through this partnership with BCCI we will accelerate growth.

Following this development, adidas has replaced Kewal Kiran Clothing Limited (KKCL), popularly known for its Killer Jeans brand, which was named the official kit sponsor earlier this year. The collaboration between BCCI and Killer Jeans is set to conclude on May 31, 2023.

The branding of adidas is likely to be seen on the right upper chest of the Indian cricket team’s playing and training jersey.

The Men in Blue will start donning the jersey featuring the logo of adidas from the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia, which is scheduled to start on June 7, 2023.
