Formula E, DHL extend partnership to benefit environment

DHL being the official partner to the championship will continue to deliver 415 tons of all-electric motorsport and accessories.

The prominent motorsport championship Formula E and the delivery service giant, DHL have extended their association to continue the joint commitment for the advancement of e-mobility, low-carbon lifestyles and ecologically smart cities. Through this renewal, DHL also maintains its official founding and logistics partnership rights to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Through this collaboration, the two notable brands would perform on and off-track initiatives that reflect their commitment to environmental and social responsibility. The initiatives include DHL’s ‘Legacy Program’ in which the global firm will promote effective participation in community engagements at major Formula E race locations, tree planting, street-art mural utilizing carbon-absorbing paints and female youth recognition in motorsport career. With this collaboration, the logistics firm becomes the pioneer of sustainability in the industry as it gained the official rights to the DHL & Formula E Together Green Award. This award is given to local sustainability heroes at each race location of season 8 of the racing competition while skimming through global nominations also.

Being the official partner to the championship, the delivery service platform will continue to deliver 415 tons of all-electric motorsport and accessories such as race cars, charging units, broadcasting equipment and batteries. With this grand partnership, Formula E would attain a multi-modal transport approach that enhances efficiency and decrease C02 emissions.

Arjan Sissing, the Head of Global Brand Marketing at Deutsche Post DHL Group also gave in-depth insights on this partnership and said, “Deutsche Post DHL Group will be investing 7 billion euros in clean operations and climate-neutral logistics through to 2030, which includes major investments in its fleet of e-vehicles. This – along with our goal to achieve zero-emission logistics by 2050 – is a major, industry-leading commitment on the part of DHL. “We also recognize that the small incremental developments and steps – the everyday engagement and commitment on the part of individuals and organizations around the globe – are so important to moving the needle. The DHL & Formula E Together Green Award is meant to call attention to these heroes and hopefully amplify the impact they are having.”

Over this renewed association, the Formula E CEO, Jamie Reigle, said, “DHL have been an integral partner to Formula E from inception and we are delighted to extend and enhance our collaboration. DHL is also the official logistics partner of Formula 1.
