Football Australia extends sponsorship with Qantas

Qantas will once again continue to serve as the official airline partner of Australia's men's and women's teams for the next three years.

The governing body of soccer in Australia, Football Australia has announced a newly extended sponsorship agreement with the flag carrier of Australia, Qantas Airways Limited.

Following this news, Qantas will once again continue to serve as the official airline partner of Australia’s men’s and women’s teams for the next three years.

Another major commercial achievement in a string of significant sponsorship announcements made by Football Australia over the past three years is the news that will motivate Australia’s national airline to maintain its commitment to the development of Australian football. This exemplifies how some of Australia’s most recognisable businesses have come together to offer unmatched value and support for the sport’s continued growth.

Since 2004, Qantas has been a proud partner of Subway Socceroos. With this extension of the collaboration, Qantas will continue to support the two senior national teams, promote ‘the Green and Gold’, and boost recognition of Australian football both domestically and internationally.

Football Australia CEO, James Johnson, said, “Football Australia is excited to renew its partnership with Qantas, which extends beyond two decades. Qantas is a key partner for us, and we are grateful for their ongoing support of Australian football. Our partnership with Qantas has allowed us to take the best of Australian football to the world, and we are thrilled to continue working together to grow the game for all Australians. Our partnership extension will allow Qantas to maintain its position as a leader in these areas, in partnership with Football Australia. Qantas has been an essential partner of Football Australia and Australian football for many years, and we are delighted to continue our partnership for the next three years.”

In addition, Qantas will maintain its long-standing commitment to assisting regional Australia and upholding inclusiveness, diversity, sustainability, and reconciliation as part of the collaboration renewal. The Australia Cup, which brings together more Australian football clubs than any other knockout athletic event, is backed once again by Qantas. Around 770 teams entered the 2023 edition, and Football Australia and Qantas will collaborate to further enhance this distinctive aspect of the Australian sporting environment in the years to come.

The airline’s decision to renew its affiliation with Football Australia is a testament to its dedication to promoting Australian sports and its understanding of the popularity of football both domestically and abroad as well as its significance to Australian culture.

Qantas Group Chief Customer Officer Markus Svensson, said, “As the national carrier, we’re excited to be continuing our support of Football Australia to help showcase our athletes on the world stage and also inspire a new generation of Socceroos and Matildas to represent Australia at the highest level.”
