DP World Tour strikes sponsorship deal with Oceantee

Oceantee has been named the Tour's official sustainable products supplier for the next three years.

The European golf league, the DP World Tour has signed a new sponsorship agreement with the environmentally-conscious golf brand, Oceantee.

Oceantee has been named the Tour’s official sustainable products supplier for the next three years, with the company set to explore a variety of marketing services.

Oceantee will be featured in customised content on the Tour’s digital channels, as well as receive brand visibility at competitions and access to the Tour’s premium hospitality services for B2B networking.

Oceantee, founded by marine biologist Ed Sandison, was the first brand that makes bamboo golf tees. It also makes golf equipment and a line of men’s and women’s clothing constructed completely of sustainable fabrics.

Oceantee will become an official supplier at five competitions every year as part of its agreement with the DP World Tour and will release its Sustainability Series, a compendium of educational outreach measures for tournament fans. The Scottish Open, which takes place from July 7 to 10, will feature a community beach clean-up.

Last year, the DP World Tour initiated Green Drive, a bolstered commitment to sustainability with the goal of making the Tour a display of social and environmental responsibility.

Moreover, Oceantee will develop a new line of eco-friendly tees, pin flags, and caddie bibs in accordance with this. Tour-branded merchandise will also be available at oceanteegolf.com which is the Tour’s official online store and tournament merchandise stores.

Sandison said, “My vision for Oceantee has always been to develop collaborative partnerships that will bring sustainability to the forefront of the golf industry. There are millions of people around the world who are passionate about golf and want to preserve the environments that it is played in, but perhaps don’t know where to start. This partnership will help us circulate those important messages and give golfers access to the information they need as well as products that are kinder to the planet.”

Max Hamilton, Commercial Director of the European Tour group, commented, “The whole European Tour group is on a mission to make significant reductions to our carbon footprint and use our global platform to encourage others to follow suit.

“Partners are vital to this effort and in Oceantee we have an innovative, disruptive company who are going to be a key partner as we continue to remove plastic waste from our operations and encourage recycling at our events. Their sustainable products are already gaining a lot of traction and we look forward to adding DP World Tour-branded products to their range.”
