Borussia Mönchengladbach extends deal with Puma

The agreement, which was set to expire at the end of the 2023-24 season, was renewed early.

The Bundesliga club, Borussia Mönchengladbach have announced a new extension of their partnership with the sportswear giant, Puma.

The agreement, which was set to expire at the end of the 2023-24 season, was renewed early. The club’s current partnership with Puma began in the 2018-19 season. While no specific timeframe for the contract renewal has been disclosed, the club describes it as a “long-term” agreement.

Puma supplied Borussia with boots beginning with the 1966/67 season, before moving on to providing kits and training wear for the Colts during the 1970s. Puma’s label appeared on a Borussia kit for the first time in their 1977 European Cup final against Liverpool, and since then the logo was printed on every Borussia kit from then until 1992.

Borussia Mönchengladbach, Chief Executive Stephan Schippers, said, “You could really feel the happiness back in 2018 when it was announced that PUMA would be our kit providers once again. To be able to extend our partnership with PUMA early and for the long term has brought that joy back once again. Our club has celebrated a long and successful history alongside PUMA – the two simply belong together.”

PUMA, CEO, Bjørn Gulden, commented, “PUMA and Borussia Mönchengladbach have had a historic and memorable history together, which we have continued since 2018. We are delighted to stand alongside the club as partners for the coming years, experiencing special moments on the pitch together and delivering products which excite the fans.”

Guido Uhle, Borussia’s Director of Sponsoring, said, “Our partnership with PUMA is an especially emotional one, as a result of the history we have shared – both for the club and the fans. We are proud to have a global brand like PUMA by our side. The fact that we have been able to extend our partnership for the long term gives us the security to plan for a successful future together.”
