Borussia Dortmund announced 2 ½ year partnership with Lion City Sailors; focus on youth development

The youth development programme of Borussia Dortmund has seen good results as it graduated players like Jadon Sancho, Ousmane Dembele and many more.

Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund more widely known as BVB have always been one of the clubs in Europe who are focused on the development of youth players, brushing up youth players who go on to become world-class players has always been on the agenda for the black and yellow.

They proved this point even further as they signed and announced a partnership with Singapore Premier League club Lion City Sailors. The deal spans over a time of 2 ½ years as announced in an online press conference on Saturday.

The deal will see BVB host an annual training camp with the academy team of the Singapore based club, also allowing for special training programmes for selected players. Along with this, the academy players who shine in the two-week training will have an extended period of a week to train with the Black and Yellows.

Being one of Europe’s elites and having a history of nurturing young talent, BVB has never been shy of setting up training camps around the world. The youth development programme of the club has seen good results as it graduated players like Jadon Sancho who has bagged a move to Manchester United, Robert Lewandowski who is one of the best players in the world, Ousmane Dembele who went to play for Barcelona and many more.

The deal will greatly benefit the youth players of Lion City Sailors as they will have the opportunity to learn a lot from elite players like Marco Reus and Erling Haaland and will also see them being under an elite coaching staff.
