The new agreement grants the digital entertainment corporation the right to promote “eFootball” using the club Mineiro brand. With this, Konami will be able to replicate Galo’s primary team as well as its upcoming Arena MRV stadium for “eFootball 2023” and subsequent iterations of the video game series.
When the Konami Corporation Group was first established in 1973, it made arcade gaming devices. The business has expanded over time and added several business units in multiple markets. Currently, the organisation includes enterprises in the entertainment, gaming, and sports industries.
Atlético-MG CEO, Bruno Muzzi, said, “We are very pleased to place the new home of Galo, the MRV Arena, which will be inaugurated in 2023, in this important partnership with KONAMI. He also points out that the project will allow athletic fans and soccer fans from all over the world to interact with the stadium. In this digital world, this contributes to bringing the Club even closer to younger fans.
The arrangement covers both on and off-pitch commercial engagement and integrated marketing initiatives. In Atlético-related content, like press conference backgrounds and banners outside the practice facility, the “eFootballTM” brand will be prominently displayed.
Yuta Kose, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., commented, “Atletico demonstrates how football crosses cultures and generations, and we are proud to be an official sponsor of such an extraordinary team. The newest chapter in this joint venture will offer new experiences to our fans and allow us to reach new enthusiasts through eFootball.”
In order to engage with a new generation of fans, Konami and Galo will also collaborate to carry out eSports activities and promote the competitive nature of the game.
