The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 is set for a thrilling finale as Delhi Capitals (DC) lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The high-octane clash gets underway on Sunday, March 17, at 7:30 PM IST.

DC booked a berth for the final by securing the topmost spot with six wins and two losses at the end of the league stage.

RCB, on the other hand, had to overcome a determined Mumbai Indians (MI) side in the eliminator, showcasing their grit and determination to reach the biggest stage.

While historical dominance might favour DC, RCB can’t be taken lightly. Interestingly, DC have enjoyed a clean sweep against the Bangalore-based team this season. The first match was a convincing 25-run victory for the Delhi team in Bangalore, while the second encounter was a nail-biting one-run win.

The captain Meg Lanning has been leading from the front with the bat, amassing 308 runs in eight innings, including an impressive four half-centuries. She has found support from the young guns Shafali Verma (265 runs), Jemimah Rodrigues (235 runs), and the explosive Alice Capsey (230 runs). The South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp has been a revelation with the ball, holding the purple cap with 11 wickets and a superior average. Her Aussie teammate, Jess Jonassen, has also been a vital part of the attack, picking up 11 crucial wickets. The left-arm spinner Radha Yadav has chipped in with 10 wickets and sits comfortably in fourth place in the purple cap race.

RCB will rely heavily on their star performer, Ellyse Perry, who holds the orange cap with 312 runs in eight matches. The skipper Smriti Mandhana has also been amongst the runs, scoring 269 runs. The finishing duties have been ably handled by the talented Richa Ghosh, who has accumulated 240 runs. In terms of bowling, Asha Sobhana has been the standout performer with 10 wickets, while the experienced Sophie Molineux has provided valuable support with nine wickets. Perry’s all-around skills are another weapon in RCB’s arsenal, with seven wickets to her name.
