Sony Pictures acquire exclusive broadcast rights of Bundesliga in India, subcontinent

Sony will telecast the live-action from Bundesliga on its television network channels and their OTT platform, Sony LIV.

Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) has acquired the official broadcasting rights for the Bundesliga in India and the Indian sub-continent region. A two-year deal has been signed between Bundesliga and Sony India. The agreement includes a live telecast of Bundesliga matches in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Pakistan.

The agreed deal between the German League and Sony pictures, which has already commenced will run until the end of the 2022-23 season. This will ensure that the football fans across the Indian sub-continent region will be able to cherish and enjoy the live-action by their favourite footballing stars.

Players like Thomas Muller, Robert Lewandowski, Marco Reus, Earling Haaland and Leroy Sane are in the league due to which the fans are often glued to their screen to see them perform. Following this deal with Bundesliga, Sony will telecast the live-action from the top-tier German League on its television network channels and also on their popular OTT platform, Sony LIV.

In response to the deal being made with Sony India, Robert Klein, Chief Executive Officer, Bundesliga International added: ”With this new deal, we are able to guarantee Bundesliga fans a place to watch their team every single Matchday. Bundesliga has been active in supporting and nurturing the growth of football in India. They launched the Oktoberfest experience in 2019, where FC Bayern Munchen legend Klaus Augenthaler joined a group of fans in Mumbai for a “Klassiker Fan Match”, prior to this visit Bundesliga legend Lothar Matthaus travelled to Kochi and Mumbai. During this trip, Lothar visited football schools and interacted with the Bayern fan club and supporters.
