Sky PerfecTV, Endeavor join hands for Bundesliga streaming in Japan

The service will be available to SPTV subscribers, as part of their TV subscription, and Non-SPTV subscribers have to select an additional package.

Sky PerfecTV (SPTV), the Japanese television broadcaster, has partnered with Endeavor Streaming, for launching a new OTT platform for the streaming of the two top tiers of German football.

This service will be available to SPTV subscribers, as part of their TV subscription. While the non-SPTV subscribers have to select an additional streaming subscription package. The service is currently available on the web, iOS, and Android devices, as well as Chromecast and Airplay.

Through this new OTT streaming platform, Japanese customers can watch live games of the German leagues. While they can also interact with real-time data overlays, providing a personalized OTT viewing experience. The data services and associated interactivity features have been developed by the DFL Group, with the support of TeraVolt.

Speaking on the occasion, Fred Santarpia, president at Endeavor Streaming, said, “Endeavor Streaming is proud to partner with SKY PerfecTV in delivering a true next-generation OTT streaming service.

“A fully localized Japanese experience, with Bundesliga content, coupled with enhanced live data and interactivity features will offer SKY PerfecTV! customers the engaging viewing experience that today’s fans demand,” he added.

“We look forward to continuing to innovate with SKY Perfect and expanding our presence in the APAC region.”

Adding to it, Akahito Okunaga, SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation executive officer and group president of the media business group said, “We are very pleased to launch the ‘Bundesliga LIVE App’ with Bundesliga and Endeavor Streaming, which we believe is a great example of a next-generation broadcasting service.

“This will be a great viewing experience for our customers. We are committed to continuing to improve our services to provide the top football league’s content to our customers.”

SPTV first signed the Bundesliga media rights ahead of the 2018/19 season, and renewed it last year, with the deal ending now in 2025. As part of the deal, the pay-tv operator streams, live delayed and replay coverage of more than 200 matches played across Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2. Apart from that, it has also the right to telecast the DFL Super Cup, and the promotion and relegation matches.

Besides SPTV, Endeavor Streaming offers a variety of live sports events and premium services in multiple markets, which including the WWE Network, UFC shows NBA League Pass, etc. While earlier this month, Endeavor Streaming launched a new OTT platform on behalf of the OSV, the Austrian ski federation, and recently provided the International Cricket Council with a new streaming service.
