Saudi Arabian Tennis Federation appoints Rafael Nadal as brand ambassador

In this new capacity, Rafael Nadal will build a Rafa Nadal Academy and encourage tennis throughout the kingdom.

The Saudi tennis governing council, the Saudi Arabian Tennis Federation has announced the Spanish tennis legend and 22-time Grand Slam winner, Rafael Nadal, as its brand ambassador.

Nadal’s role is described as a ‘long-term commitment’ that aims to grow the sport in the Gulf nation. The Spaniard will make regular trips to Saudi Arabia each year to help increase interest in tennis amongst the state’s young population.

In this new capacity, the former world No. 1 will build a Rafa Nadal Academy and encourage tennis throughout the kingdom.

On the development, Rafael Nadal said, “Everywhere you look in Saudi Arabia, you can see growth and progress and I’m excited to be part of that. I continue to play tennis as I love the game. But beyond playing I want to help the sport grow far and wide across the world and in Saudi there is real potential. The kids here today are looking to the future and have a real passion for all sports.

If I can help them pick up a racquet or simply get fit and enjoy the benefits of healthy living, then I’ll be happy to have made a difference.”

The decision is Saudi Arabia’s most recent advancement in the sport of tennis. Until 2027, Jeddah will host the men’s tour’s Next Gen ATP Finals for the top 21-and-under players.

Moreover, the women’s tour is also negotiating about holding the season-ending WTA Finals in Saudi Arabia.
