Rohit Sharma and Adidas collaborate to ‘End Plastic Waste’

To highlight his goal of ending plastic waste, Rohit will continue to wear the customised shoes for the rest of the IPL season.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team, was seen wearing spikes with the phrase “End Plastic Waste” during a match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday, April 24, 2022.

Designer Aaquib Wani collaborated with Adidas and Rohit to create a shoe that underlines the need of conserving oceans through an intriguing piece of shoe art that features a whale alongside red sea corals and plants. To highlight his goal of ending plastic waste, the country’s best cricketer will continue to wear these shoes for the rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. This is a huge effort taken in order to draw people’s attention to sustainability and the environment in a new way.

With this initiative, Rohit takes the field to bat with a purpose from now on, with Adidas India picking up 10 plastic bottles from Mumbai’s beaches for every run he scores. The concept of ‘Together Impossible is Nothing’ is carried forward by the move, which is pushed by stunning ocean artwork on the shoe.

“Adidas has been the driving force of positive change in the lives of people beyond athletes, inspiring us all to push boundaries. I personally resonate with the impossible is nothing attitude and was thrilled when we worked on the unique idea of representing the causes through me on the playing field. It is extremely important to have an active dialogue on matters of sustainability through all possible mediums and inspire all around us to see the possibilities of positive change,” said, Rohit.
