Raphael Varane set to join Manchester United for £50 million

Raphael Varane wants a new adventure in his well-decorated career and is attracted by the project of The Red Devils.

Real Madrid centre back Raphael Varane is now all set for his move to Old Trafford for £50 million until 2026. Personal terms have been agreed and the deal is at the very last stage.

This news has been confirmed by transfer expert journalist Fabrizio Romano. Varane wants a new adventure in his well-decorated career and is attracted by the project of The Red Devils. The Frenchman has a contract with Real Madrid until 2023, Los Blancos won’t sell their star defender for free next season.

This news comes after the official announcement of Jadon Sancho as the new Manchester United player for a whopping fee of €90 million.

Varane is also a key defender in Didier Deschamps’ French squad and was also part of the World Cup-winning team of 2018.

Real Madrid signed Varane in 2011 from the French side Lens, since then, the Frenchman has won four Champions League and three La Liga titles with the club. He also had an infamous partnership with the former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos who recently signed for PSG as a free agent.

This is a huge loss for the men in white as they have lost two important centre backs in a single transfer window. To fill the defensive void Real Madrid also signed David Alaba from Bayern Munich but now it is sure that the Austrian has big shoes to fill.

Right now, Madrid has David Alaba, Eder Militao, Jose Nacho and either Jesus Vallejo, Victor Chust or Mario Gila as centre-back options for the 2021-2022 season.

The official announcement of Varane joining The Red Devils is just a matter of hours or days.

It has been a productive week for Manchester United, Jadon Sancho was unveiled as the new signing and then the United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also signed a new contract with the club that keeps him at Old Trafford till 2024. United has Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan Bissaka and Luke Shaw in defence and now with this signing they can surely be the potential candidates to lift the Premier League trophy next season.
