Prime Video clinches Wimbledon regional media rights in Austria and Germany

Following the deal, Amazon Prime Video will be providing extensive streaming of Wimbledon in Austria and Germany from 2024 till 2027.

The multinational OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video has secured regional media rights to the most prestigious grand slam in tennis, Wimbledon in Austria and Germany.

Following the deal, the digital platform will be providing extensive streaming of the premier tennis grand slam competition in Austria and Germany from 2024 till 2027. 

Speaking on the partnership, Paul Davies, Head of Broadcast, Production & Media Rights at the All England Club, commented, “We are very excited to be entering a new four-year partnership with Prime Video for Wimbledon in Germany and Austria.  Prime Video has already demonstrated, including in tennis, how effectively they can deliver major sporting events in important global markets. 

He also added, “Wimbledon and Germany have a rich heritage and we are excited to see, with Prime’s impressive household penetration, allied with their ambitious on-site production plans, how The Championships can be elevated in what we consider to be one of our major European territories.”

The global e-commerce giant, Amazon, through its OTT medium has been very active in the arena of sports by bringing lots of action from the different sporting sectors. It started its advent by producing the documentary series “All or Nothing”. The most recent development in its portfolio is the deal with ICC to stream all its events in Australia.
