Luton Town FC extend Kitman Labs partnership to enhance performance and foster talent development

Kitman Labs' performance medicine, performance optimisation, and coaching and development solutions will be accessible to Luton Town FC.

The Premier League (PL) club, Luton Town FC have signed a sponsorship extension with the data intelligence company, Kitman Labs.

The renewed collaboration will include the team’s men’s first squad to improve performance and talent development through data and intelligence.

The PL club, through this extended deal, will employ Kitman Labs’ performance medicine, performance optimisation, and coaching & development solutions, which incorporate healthcare, performance, coaching, and talent development data on one integrated platform.

The approach is intended to identify player health, wellness, and performance outcomes while also informing talent development strategy, allowing The Hatters to maximise performance and potential.

Along with Luton Town, Fulham FC, Bayer LeverkusenChelsea FCLiverpool FC, and Sporting Lisbon have also employed the company’s technology.

Jared Roberts-Smith, Head of Performance of Luton Town FC, said, “To be competitive, our data needs to work as hard as our players do. That means the team needs to be working in one integrated system that provides an accurate, holistic view of each player. Training and treatment decisions can’t be made in a vacuum – we need a single source of truth for staff that provides them with the insights and intelligence necessary to inform tactical and strategic decision-making on and off the pitch.”

Meanwhile, Kitman Labs and the English top-flight football unveiled the Football Intelligence Platform for all academies late last year. By integrating the Intelligence Platform throughout the men’s first squad, Luton will be able to consolidate all data and analytics under a single operating system.

The centralisation and combining of these data sets will reduce information silos, allowing for real-time, cross-departmental cooperation as well as the opportunity for practitioners and stakeholders to support data-driven, evidence-based decision-making.

Stephen Smith, CEO and Founder of Kitman Labs, said, “We couldn’t be more excited to be expanding our relationship with The Hatters to include the first team. This is a club that is taking a methodical, structured approach to achieving sustainable long term success. They are clearly proven and capable of fulfilling their ambitions and have a clear vision for how to achieve it. We welcome the opportunity to work with the team to help institute a data and analytics infrastructure that can be used to enable objective, evidence-based decision-making across every level of the organisation.”

Placed 17th in the rankings, the team has managed to avoid a relegation spot for now. The unit will aim to benefit from the use of Kitman Labs’ technology, as it may assist the side to improve on the pitch and move up in the points table.
